Eagle Alumni of Troop 243
Eagle Alumni of Troop 243 Tradition, honor, and excellence: three values that are embodied by St. Joseph's Troop 243, which is celebrating its 65th year of scouting. On January 6 of this year, the troop sponsored its annual Pancake Breakfast fund raiser. As in the past, the fund raiser was both a financial and social success, as hundreds of guests showed their support of scouting while enjoying expertly prepared breakfasts of pancakes, sausage, bagels, and more. For the last several years, the kitchen has been manned by an experienced crew of fathers of former scouts (all of whom attained the rank of Eagle), a testament to the both their dedication to scouting and the bonds that the program fosters. Heartfelt thanks are extended to kitchen crew Henry Rossano, Jay Fitzgerald, Joe DeCarlo, and Henry Wysocki for their continued contribution to the troop. In order to ensure the continued success of the breakfast, these seasoned veterans were assisted by scout parent, Jim Pelter, whose own son is expected to achieve the rank of Eagle this year.

Kitchen Crew and Harvey Krimko
Kitchen Crew and Harvey Krimko In addition to kitchen crew, the troop was also honored by the presence of six former Scoutmasters, as well as a host of Eagle-rank alumni. Former Scoutmasters Brian Abamont, Kin Cregnolan, George Boszilkov, James Alnwick, Bob Adams and Harvey Krimko were on hand; the original Troop charter, a ceremonial candle holder, and photographs depicting the troop's history were generously donated by Scoutmasters Boszilkov and Alnwick. While it is not unusual for troop alumni to support the fund raising breakfast, the attendance of the former scoutmasters and the number of Eagle alumni was especially edifying. There is no doubt that the tradition of excellence established through the guidance of the former leaders will continue.

The funds raised will enable the troop to provide many activities to the scouts during the upcoming year, including numerous overnight camping trips.

The troop would like to thank McDonald's (Garden City), Bagelman of Garden City, Friendly's (East Meadow), Treasure Isle Foods (Mineola), and Waldbaum's (Garden City Park) for their continued generous donations to the Pancake Breakfast.
