Members of the Colonel Aaron Ogden chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution were pleased to take part in some activities recently which reflected their concerns for veterans.

In October, chapter members were joined by members of the William Bradford Turner Post #265 of the American Legion and members of the Garden City Senior Men's Club, to discuss disaster preparedness. The meeting at the Cathedral House was conducted by Mr. Terry Winter, from Nassau County's Office of Emergency & Disaster Preparedness, Winter stressed the virtue of being prepared for all disasters, whether natural or manmade, and suggested that people prepare in advance. This included stockpiling food and water, having documents in easy reach, and being able to manage without government help for several weeks. This was a well-received and informative meeting.

In November, chapter member Rosalyn Dorn and fellow members of the Auxiliary Service Guild presented 65 wheelchair bags and socks to representatives of the Veterans Hospital in Northport. The bags are used to carry the veteran's personal effects and were much appreciated.
