On January 21, PO Tuohy arrested a 63-year-old Valley Stream woman for allegedly shoplifting $681 in merchandise, namely a Ralph Lauren sweater, 2 velvet L&T shirts, 2 Guess sweaters and an Ellen Tracy shirt, at Lord and Taylor...On January 24, PO Sommer arrested a 44-year-old Queens Village woman for allegedly shoplifting an $158 Context cashmere sweater, and a CK sweatshirt, at the store... PO Marceda arrested a 34-year-old Seaford woman for allegedly stealing one Diesel pair of jeans valued at $200 and a pair of Hudson jeans valued at $155, on January 25, at Lord and Taylor...Also that same day, unknown persons slashed 4 tires and broke 4 windows of a 1996 Toyota Rab parked at Field 9W. Damage $800...Between January 24 and 25, on each day, unknown persons took a $400 Sidekick cell phone; total was $800...Someone took a $200 Blackberry and credit cards from a locker at the NY Sports Clubs, Franklin Ave., on January 28...A 2000 Ford Venture valued at $14,000 was stolen from commercial Avenue, between January 25 and 28... On January 28, 10:05 AM, at Franklin Ave./Fifteenth St., PO Cristiano arrested a 40-year-old Westbury man for 1 count of aggravated un-licensed operation 2nd degree (15 suspensions,7 dates) and 2 counts of aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd for the failure to pay child support and other suspensions for traffic law violations.The motorist had tinted windows, no insurance, no license, no plates...On January 29, PO Cristiano arrested a 22-year-old Elmont man for tinted windows, improper lenses on directional signals, unlicensed operation, no insurance, and aggravated un-licensed operation 2nd (5 suspensions, 5 dates)... A truck stop was conducted at Clinton Rd on January 29. DOT at scene. 8 trucks were inspected; 6 out of service, 8 for weight violations. 49 tickets issued... On January 25, there was a report of youths at the Nassau Blvd. RR station and police issued an appearance ticket to an 18-year-old GC male for beer in violation of the ABC law...

Water leaked fom an ice maker onto heating pipes at a Kingsbury Rd. residence on January 25...Keyspan was notified of an odor at Cambridge Ave. on January 25...Heavy smoke conditions occurred at a Hilton Hall apartment on January 27. The fire was extinguished but an elderly woman was found dead in the room where the fire started. An investigation continues...FD used pumps to remove water at a Brixton Rd. house on January 28... LIPA was notified after an electric problem occurred at a Kingsbury Rd. house on January 29...Workmen accidentally set off an alarm at a basement chem lab at Adelphi U. on January 30...
