New York State Senator Kemp Hannon (R-6th S.D.) recently recognized Garden City residents Thomas Vita, Jr., Sean McElgun and Nathan Doctor at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. To achieve scouting's highest honor, Nathan designed and installed a challenging COPES Low Rope course used to teach team building skills at St. Martin de Pores in Uniondale; Sean designed and created a meditation garden with two benches at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City; and Thomas designed and erected solar energy panels to power a pump used for the tiered pond he built at the Garden City Bird Sanctuary. Presenting a citation to the honorees, Senator Hannon said, "Young men like Thomas, Sean and Nathan, who are dedicated, and strive towards the pursuit of excellence, are our nation's most valuable resource." Pictured at the ceremony are, from left, Thomas Vita, Jr., Sean McElgun and Nathan Doctor.
