William C. Moyers William C. Moyers will speak on Tuesday, January 29th, at the Garden City High School auditorium after a 7 PM General PTA meeting.

Mr. Moyers is a former Garden City Resident, Garden City High School Alumnus and author. Mr. Moyers is the current VP of External Affairs for the Hazelden Foundation in Minnesota. Wherever he goes, award winning author William C. Moyers meets people who struggle against the powerful grip of addiction and don't know where to turn. Moyers' call to action in unmasking this stigma is a powerful reminder that changing the terms of the debate for the next generation starts with each and every one of us. His talk will focus on: Identifying the origins of the stigma of addiction and why it is so powerful- even today, talking to the next generation about addiction, and realizing the importance of our role in taking the powerful steps to promote recovery. He will trace his upbringing in Garden City, his downfall and recovery, and end with a question and answer period. Mr. Moyers has appeared on CNN's Larry King Live, the Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC Today Show and countless others to promote the public's understanding of issues related to addiction, treatment, and recovery. In addition to his important message, he'll be available beginning at 6:30 outside the High School auditorium for the purchase and signing of his bestselling novel, Broken. Barnes & Noble will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale to the PTA.
