As the new year begins all of our travel basketball teams are now back in action in the highly competitve Island Garden Super League. Here's some of the highlights:KIFFEL 8TH GIRLS have started the season 7-0. Team defense has led the way, having only given up 23 points a game. The highlight of the season so far has been the 43-41 victory over a LI Lightning team that is one of the better local AAU teams. The recent victories have been led by the rebounding of Christina Mangels, timely scoring from Catherine Dickinson and overall good play of Maggie Comiskey........BASEL 5TH GIRLS continues to show improvement led by the rebounding of Emily Basile and Kerriann Ernenwein.......RAPHAEL 5TH GIRLS now stand at 4-2 behind the scoring of Katie Roscoe and Samantha Auricchio......With a win over the MDP Patriots CAPETOLA 4TH BOYS ran their record to 6-1 tied for first place in their division......After splitting their first two contests of the new year TARICHE 5TH BOYS are 4-3, tied for third in their division.........KELLY 6TH BOYS are tied for first in Division 2, sporting a 5-1 ledger.........By winning their first two games of 2008 WALCZYK vaulted into a tie for second place, currently 5-3........Logon to the Island Garden website, www.islandgarden.com , for complete schedules, results and standings.
