Boys Varsity Basketball Begins With Wins

The Garden City boys varsity basketball team began its season at the Clarke Tipoff Tournament in the beginning of December. After defeating East Meadow by a score of 50-47 and then knocking off Oceanside in a tight 49-48 victory, the Trojans won the tournament. Mike Mancusi was named the MVP and teammates Denis Rice and Reid Rosello were named to the all tournament team.
As the holidays got closer the team traveled to East Meadow for the East Meadow Holiday Tournament. GC didn't fare as well and lost to Mepham 59-52 and then fell to Clarke 72-66.
On December 19th the Trojans played their first Conference ABC-III game against East Rockaway. Mike Mancusi had a game high 27 points while teammate Jeff Fell had 12 points and 10 rebounds to give the Trojans the 64-53 win.
Following a loss to Freeport, a win over Herricks and then losses to Roslyn and North Shore, GC traveled to Sewanhaka on Tuesday evening January 8th for a conference game. The Trojans came away with a resounding 56-38 victory. Leading the scoring for the Trojans was Jeff Fell with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Mike Mancusi had 10 points followed by Reid Rosello (7), Hayden Fries and Patrick Reeves (6 each), Matt Montgomery (5), Roger Man-cusi and John Muscarella (3 each) and Billy Herbst (2).

The team will play Monday, January 14th at home against Wantagh at 6:30pm.
