The Garden City Centennial ;soccer Club will be opening their spring season on Saturday April 5 th . Girls play 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and boys play from 12:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. More ... The 5th grade GC Renegade team participated in the Nassau Community College / Oyster Bay Lacrosse League 2 day Christmas Tournament this past weekend. It was open to all 5th and 6th grade teams or a combination of the two grades. The GC Renegades started the tournament out with a win against the LI Express select 5th grade team. As the registration period for the 2008 season closes, we start to look towards our indoor "skills and tune up session" for 2008 at St. Paul's. While our field house time allotment at St. Paul's has been cut again this year, we offer as much time as possible to our 350 registered players within the two hours that we have been provide each Sunday by the village recreation department. More ... The GC Girls' Varsity Volleyball team started the 2007 season as a big question mark, but finished as a big exclamation point by winning its first Nassau County Championship. Competing in the Nassau County "A" upper ability conference, GC endured he challenges of its grueling schedule by going 12-4 in conference play and advancing to the playoffs as the #2 seed. More ... The girls Varsity track team has had some tremendous performances through the holiday season with qualifying times for the NIKE National meet in Maryland in March in 2 events. With very high standards, the NIKE National meet attracts the top runners from across the country and Garden City now has two relay teams set to attend the meet. More ... Th e Recreation Department is offering Preschool Arts and Crafts for children ages 3.5 to 5 years who are residents of the Village of Garden City. Each class is 45 minutes long and runs for a six week session. Grace Chianese will head this program and offer fun and creative crafts for the children. More ... |
