WPOA January Meeting Schedule
      The Western Property Owners Association (WPOA) will hold its annual Residents Electors' meeting on Tuesday, January 15, at 8 p.m. at Homestead School. The WPOA's Nominating Committee will present its selection of Trustee John Watras for reelection to the Village Board of Trustees. All residents of the West, 18 or older, are eligible to participate in the Electors' meeting.

Taxi Association Spreads Holiday Cheer
     Patients at Winthrop-University Hospital's Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient Center and Cancer Center for Kids enjoyed an early visit from Santa Claus and special holiday treats thanks to Phil Fortuna, owner of Mineola Checker Cab (fifth from right) and several members of the Long Island Taxi Transportation Operators Association (LITTOA). The group, which frequently visits the Hospital to donate gifts to young patients during the holiday season, delivered three cart-loads of toys and games on December 18 and spent time visiting with children to help make their holidays extra special.       The Cathedral of the Incarnation's Church School children presented a Christmas Pageant entitled "The Messenger" at the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Christmas Eve. The troupe played to a full church which enjoyed the presentation immensely.

Epiphany Evensong At Cathedral
      Once again, the Cathedral of the Incarnation will be offering the traditional Anglican service of Evensong on Sunday, January 6 at 4 p.m. to mark the end of Christmastide and the beginning of the Epiphany season. Epiphany is the time the church celebrates the arrival of the Magi or Three Kings at the manger in Bethlehem to visit the baby Jesus.

      The Garden City Public Library's expansion and renovation of the Young Adult is nearing completion. Throughout the holiday week, workers put the finishing touches on the library's entrance and lobby. The Young Adult collection was moved to the newly renovated and enlarged area located along the Seventh Street side of the building.
