preschool arts and crafts

The Recreation Department is offering Preschool Arts and Crafts for children ages 3.5 to 5 years who are residents of the Village of Garden City. Each class is 45 minues long and runs for a six week session. Grace Chianese will head thi program and offer fun and creative crafts for the children. The cost o fthis six week sprogram will be $30 and will run according to the following schedule.

Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. in St. Paul's Cluett Hall

Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Cluett Hall

The sessions begin the week of January 9th. To register for this program, visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall.

winter adult tennis lessons now registering

The Recreation Department offers adult tennis lessons in a twelve week session. Our lessons are open to all adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City and are offered at various times during the day and on the weekends.

If your are interested in lessons for the upcoming winter season, which begins the week of January 13 th, please pick up an adult tennis interest form and return it to the Recreation Office in Village Hall no later than December 28 th. Classes will be put together according to ability and day desired on a first come, first serve basis. You will be contacted by our tennis pro, Carrie Strum, to confirm you class.

The cost of this 12 week, one hour program will be $239. Payment must accompany the interest form. Please make checks payable to "Inc. Village of Garden City."

Adult Ultimate Tennis Workout - This 1 1/2 hr. workout is for the experienced tennis player who wants to hone his or her skills. It is held on Saturdays from 10-11:30 a.m. This program will be offered in 10 week sessions with a start date of January 19 th. The cost of the session is $200.

winter yoga at cluett Hall

Our winter session of yoga will begin the week of January 28 th. Connie McKnight, our certified yoga instructor, has designed classes with all ages in mind. Each 12 week course will cost $60 and each class is 55 minutes long. All classes are held in Cluett Hall at St. Paul's.

Any resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City is invited to join these relaxing classes.

The course schedule is as follows:

Mondays All level Yoga at 7:30 p.m.

Thursdays All level Yoga at11:30 a.m.

saturday morning BASKETBALL for men

The Recreation Department will begin its Saturday morning Men's Basketball Program this Saturday, December 1 st in the Garden City Middle School's south gym. The program runs from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to men aged 19 and older who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The games are strictly "pick up" and entry is free. Proof of residency is needed to enter. For further information, please call the Recreation Office at 465-4075.

after school program for grades 3-5

The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce that this winter Rich Anderson and the Recreation Staff will conduct a gym program for children in grades 3-5.

This program will consist of organized games and activities in a supervised setting. This program will run from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Field House beginning December 3 rd according to the following schedule:

Boys in grades 3-5Mondays from 3:30 - 6 p.m.

Girls in grades 3-5Fridays from 3:30 - 6 p.m.

This program is free and no registration is necessary. Sneakers must be worn for any activity in the field house.

Note-Once the children are in our facility, they will not be allowed to leave unless accompanied by an adult. Please come in to the building to pick up your child and please be prompt.

Middle And High School Open Gym

The Recreation Department will sponsor open gym time Field House for Village students in grades 6-12. The Field House will be open and supervised from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for students to play the following activities.

Tuesdays and WednesdaysBasketball

Thursdays Basketball and Volleyball

This program will begin on Tuesday, December 4 th. Games are strictly pickup. This time is set aside for students to enjoy activities with their friends in a supervised setting. No organized practices or parents are allowed during this time. For further information please contact the Recreation Office at 465-4075.

2nd session Children's

tennis lessons announced

There are limited openings available in our children's tennis lessons that begin the week of January 6th. Please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall for further information or to register.

aerobic classes in cluett hall

The Recreation Dept's.'s aerobic classes are just the thing to get your heart pumping and your body moving. Classes are taught by experienced aerobic instructors who try to tailor their program to the level of the participants.

Classes are offered at Cluett Hall in St. Paul's according to the following schedule:

Mondayat 8 a.m.

Wednesday at 8 a.m.

Thursdayat 8 a.m.

Thursdayat 7 p.m.

Sunday at 9 a.m.

Classes last approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes. There is no preregistration for these classes. It costs $4 per class if you "pay as you go" or you can buy a 20 class pass for $60. This pass can be purchased in the Recreation Office at Village Hall or the Cluett Hall office. For further information, please call Cluett Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 742-4905.

The Recreation Adult Programs in the Field House began on Tuesday, October 9 th, according to the following schedule:
