The girls cam e out for the championship game determined to play their hearts out as they did all season long.
Our forwards, Brigid Reina, Christina Cella, Bettina Hughes, Joanne Abballe and Meghan Johansen kept the pressure on Spain's defense which led to a goal by Bettina Hughes in the first half.
Our midfielders, Alexis Yeboah-Kodie, Patricia Cahill, Nicole DeSarno, Morgan Taylor and Catherine Schay were tremendous in their efforts by keeping the ball.
Our defense, Colleen way, Lucy Petropoulos, Sarah Rudkin and Kallan Christiansen played incredible defense which gave Brigid Reina the opportunity to score.
Our second goal in the 2nd half.
Many of the girls played goalie this season, Brigid Reina, Christina Cella, Joanna Abatte, Sarah Rudkin, Charlotte Clement and Bettina Hughes. Tam USA was especially appreciative to Morgan Taylor who always did an excellent job playing goalie in the 1st half and making fantastic saves.
Adrie Christiansen and Charlotte Clement were unable to make the game and were greatly missed. They were a hugh part as well to Team USA's success this season.
Team USA was coached by Eric Schay and Assistant Coaches, Joe Cella and Sandy Reina. They felt privileged to have such a talented group of girls that came to every game to have fun, learn and play together as a team. They would like to thank the parents, families and friends for their support.
It was a pleasure to watch the girls play so well land become the Division V Girls Soccer Champions!
