Another week, another good outing for the girl's varsity track team that attended the 54th running of the Bishop Loughlin Games. The meet is one of the oldest and most hotly contested meets run at the New Balance Armory in Manhattan. It attracts more than 5,500 athletes representing 235 schools from 7 states plus the District of Columbia. Coaches Fregosi and Skrivanek took a contingent of only 12 girls to the meet but they turned in a number of quality performances to earn them a tie for 5th place overall!
In the 1000m, GC scored points with Emily Menges (3:00.1) taking second place, Maddie Adams (3:01.8) finishing fourth and Brooke Senken in 7th. Then Emily, Brooke and Maddie came back with Michelle Rotondo to score additional points with a 4th place finish in the 4x800 relay with a time of 9:39.7.
Another outstanding performance was turned in by Katie Reilly, Rachel Dooley, Tara Mahon and Taryn Schmelzinger in the 4x200 relay as they set a new school record. Other solid showings included Laura Martens in the triple jump and the 4x400, Michelle, Kim Verderber and Jenna Zarou in the 600m, Katie, Tara and Taryn in the 300m and Liz Weber in the mile.
