Garden City Grapplers Take Down in Wantagh

Andre Toback in a winning match
Due to the tireless efforts of Kathy and Ron LoFrese and the expert coahing and Hall of Famer,Paul Gillespie, and All American, Jon Masa, along with coaching dads, Rob Jarvis, Jack Toback and Larry Schmelzinger, the Grapplers came into the tournament ready to grapple and well-prepared. The results were outstanding.

Timmy Schmelzinger, once again, took the Gold, easily defeating his opponents. This kid does it with such ease, he hardly breaks a sweat.

Jack Reina took the Gold in his division with three straight pins. When Jack wrestles, you can't look away for a minute because he ends the matches in seconds.

Louie Hernandez took Gold in the 90 lb. division. Louie's first match was a come-from-behind victory in which he demonstrated the skill and perseverance of a champ.

Antonio Penna won Gold as well in his division. Antonio is new to the tournament team, and based on what this writer sees, he is a great addition.

Jack Reina muscles his opponent
Anthony Cerrone got the Silver and battled very hard in every match. This is a great breakout win for Anthony and we expect many more.

Thomas Reina, the other half of the Reina twins, earned a Bronze. After an opening loss, Thomas did not stop and dominated his opponents in two straight pins. Thomas is like a well-oiled machine, smooth and technically perfect.

Timmy Halaby is a returnee to the tournament team. It's great to have Tim back. He brings a sense of competition and a team spirit to the Grapplers, which is really contagious. Tim took the Bronze in his division. Had one of his matches lasted a minute longer, he probably would have walked away with the Gold.

Andrew Toback finished with the Bronze. Andrew is a great defensive wrestler. If you shoot on him you better get it right or you will pay!

All in all, it was another great showing for the Grapplers. This team's results proves that hard work and practice pays off.
