Locust School Alum, First-Graders Support Troops

When Garden City High School Senior Brian Way returned to Locust School this fall, his first-grade teacher, Anne Hayes (right), greeted him, along with Mrs. Hayes' current first-grade class and Principal Jean Ricotta. The reunion was inspired by Mr. Way's Eagle Scout project, a drive to collect items for the troops in Iraq. When Mrs. Hayes heard about the project, she thought it would be a perfect activity for the Locust School community, which quickly produced several cartons of snacks, games, and personal items that Mr. Way took home to send to Iraq along with items he collected from other locations throughout Garden City.
