The Garden City high school wrestling team has had a solid start to the '07-'08 season. The varsity team finished second at the Herricks tournament on December 1st. Six GC wrestlers earned 1st place in their respective weight classes; Joe Barbato @ 96, Danny Lofrese @ 119, Nick Preziosi @ 145, Pat Preziosi @ 152, Connor Horl @ 189 and Spencer DeSena, voted outstanding wrestler for the tournament, @ 215. The team finished a close second to Newberg Free Academy and ahead of powers Massapequa, Somers, and Sleepy Hollow.

On Saturday, December 8th, GC High wrestled matches against Great Neck North, Kellenberg and Rocky Point. GC had huge victories over GNN, 78 - 6, and Kellenberg (runner-up team in last years Catholic States), 72 - 12. GC was outwrestled by one of Suffolk Counties top three teams, Rocky Point 50 - 22.

On Tuesday, December 11th, Garden City traveled to Baldwin High school. The Bruins are a top team in Nassau this year and the victory by Garden City is a very meaningful non-conference win. The GC 38 - Baldwin 28 win was earned by Joe Barbato, John Wittman, Danny Lofrese, James Roth, Nick Preziosi, Connor Horl, and Spencer DeSena.
