Key/Interact Club Holiday Drives

Key/Interact Club members, Amanda Bressingham, Amanda Sena, and Michael Buonincontri are busy packing donated clothing in bags to transport into the NYC Rescue Mission.
The Garden City High School Key/Interact Club is busy working on several holiday drives. We are presently collecting canned and packaged foods for the Food Pantry in Roosevelt, N.Y., gently used clothing for the Rescue Mission in NYC, and New Stuffed Animals for children hospitalized during the holidays.

"I've often heard the saying 'Charity begins at home' and after reading a story about the good deeds of the NYC RESCUE MISSION, I feel compelled to help the many New Yorkers who are in desperate need of assistance. These people live right next door in New York City", stated Michael Buonincontri, a current junior at the Garden City High School.

The Pantry at the New York City Rescue Mission is at a 20 year all time low. It lacks food and basic toiletries. HOWEVER, what really is a major concern is the lack of clothing for the homeless. Their shelves are bare and they have no clothing at all to distribute to the people who go to the Mission daily to seek help. The Key/Interact Club is collecting gently used clothing. Please be generous and donate any used clothing that you can in order to help these people and give them a gift for the holidays. They can use any type of clothing, including coats, hats, and gloves.

Officers in the Key/Interact Club, Victoria Chimento, and Alyssa Zinga show two of the newly donated stuffed animals for the New Animal Collection taking place. They hope to have at least 100 new animals before our deadline of December 20, 2007. "Thank you for helping us" said Victoria and Alyssa.
We have a drop off box located near the main office at the Garden City High School. Donations received by December 20, 2007 will go to the shelter before the holiday.

Lastly, we are collecting New stuffed animals with original tags on them for critically ill children hospitalized for the holidays. Our goal is to collect 100 Teddy Bears and/or stuffed animals to donate. If you are out shopping, please remember us and donate a stuffed animal. We have collection boxes located in both the attendance office and the Main office.
