How are Team's Picked

GCRGL does not run an "A" "B" team program. Teams are selected through a "blind draft" process. Players within grade level are equally distributed among teams based upon experience, skill, and involvement with other sports or activities. Upon the completion of the registration period, player information is gathered and provided to the grade level Head Coaches. To avoid team stacking, each team starts out with only a Head Coach and one Assistant Coach. At the time of the draft, only the Head Coach along with the Assistant Coach participates in the draft. Players are equally divided among the teams with the understanding that the team the coaches are selecting may not be the team they end up with for the season. Before the teams are assigned, the coaches are responsible for insuring that the teams are balanced. The teams are then placed in the "hat" from which they are randomly drawn by each Head Coach. The Head and Assistant Coaches daughters are then placed on their team and once again, using the player ratings, team balance is checked to insure that each team is equal in player strength.

GC Girl's Rams Lacrosse is a Travel Program

Please note that the GC Rams Girl's Lacrosse program is a highly competitive travel lacrosse program, open to grades 3 to 8, and requires both player and parent commitment. Attendance at practices is mandatory. The Lacrosse season officially starts on March 1 and ends on June 30. It is important for both parents and players to understand that signing up for GC Rams Girls Lacrosse is committing to making lacrosse their primary sport and GC Rams their primary team in lacrosse from the season. When participating in more than one travel sport, or lacrosse team, conflicts will occur. We ask that you consider this when registering you daughter to play for the GC Rams. While every effort is made to coordinate practice and game schedules with other sports programs, it is not always possible. Again, Lacrosse is a spring sport and we ask each participant to make it her priority sport for the season and GC Rams the priority team. Games are played on either Saturday or Sunday and practices are limited to two per week.
