Holiday Windows, Restaurant Interiors To Be Judged

DiSalvo Interiors, 20006 "Best of Show" holiday window winner.

For the 29th year, shop windows in the central business district and on New Hyde Park Road will be judged and awarded for the best in holiday style and spirit next Thursday, December 13 between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Shops are advised to keep their windows lit to best show off their displays. There will be 10 winners plus "best of show" in the central business district, and one winner on New Hyde Park Road.

Additionally, in a separate category, restaurant interiors will be judged for the most holiday-inspired decorations by diSalvo Interior's staff of professional designers. Awarded will be one winner and two honorable mentions. All winners will be photographed for the Garden City Life and presented with framed certificates. Judges for shop windows will include representatives of our four property owners' associations and the Garden City Historical Society, along with Suzie Alvey, professional artist. The Holiday window and restaurant contests are part of the Chamber's annual Village Holiday Program which includes the Village Tree Lighting Ceremony. Astoria Federal Savings is contributing sponsor.
