Knights Coming Down Home Stretch for Cooney Show

'Msgr. John's Knights' are projecting another major turnout of 500 or more

attendees at the 8 P.M., Friday, December 7th "A Classic Irish Christmas" concert featuring stage, TV and Irish-American recording star, Andy Cooney, according to Event Chairman "Jay" Lynch and Deputy Chairman, Bob Guida.

The spectacular Broadway-calibre show will be held in Saint Anne's McCloskey Auditorium, Dartmouth Street and New Hyde Park Road. Tickets at $25 each may be ordered by phone (516-352-2457) or purchased at the door at no extra charge.

Featured at the concert will be Andy and his brilliant band of master musicians ; George Casey, the new King of Blarney; Odette Woods, soprano and Dublin's traditional Irish dancers. Musical Director is Brian"Bugs" Moran.

The Knights' charity donation at the show will be presented by Grand Knight Basil Bliss to "Father" John Gilmartin, Pastor, to help support the completion of the Saint Therese Chapel memorializing Msgr. William F. Costello. The developing chapel, named after Msgr. Costello's favorite saint, is located in Saint Anne's School with entry through the hallway to the right of the School Cafeteria.

Another presentation at the show will honor the Knights' winning (for the third time),

the national Star Council Award, the highest award a council can earn.

To honor the memory of "Dec. 7th Pearl Harbor," the Knights plan a prize-drawing of the names of living WWII veterans in the Knights home 17th Nassau K/C District . The winner will receive a valuable six (6) disc collection of Ken Burns' widely-acclaimed PBS-TV series, "The War"and the series Companion Guide to WWII. The names of the vets will be displayed in an ad in the evening's Playbill-like program and on a display at the event. The winner is not required to attend the show.

To top off the event, the Knights have added a dramatic collector's item door-prize of a beautiful giant-size, full-color "Classic Irish Christmas" show poster personally autographed by Andy Cooney and his starring cast. What a valuable keepsake for one of Andy's fans in what has increasingly become "Saint Anne's Cooney Country!"

"Msgr. John's Knights" represent Msgr. John C. Seidenschwang Knights of Columbus, 11836, 75 Dartmouth St., Garden City, NY 11530.
