Trojans Girls Volleyball Takes Home Nassau Class A Title

For the first time in the history of Garden City girls volleyball, the Trojans took home the Nassau County Class A championship trophy after defeating No.1 West Hempstead 3-2 on November 8th at Hofstra University.

Kaitlyn Olsen was key in Game 5 with five kills and two blocks as Garden City overcame a 6-1 deficit for a 25-21 win.

During the 25-19, 8-25, 25-10, 7-26, 25-21 victory, Rebecca Langer had 15 kills and three aces, while Jenna Kirschner had 15 assists and four kills. Combined with Allison Castel's 11 assists, the Trojans advanced to the Long Island Championship game played on Saturday November 11th against Westhampton.

Although Westhampton won the match the Garden City girls team including: Jen Hoffman, Madison Horl, Juliana Ortego, Jenna Kirschner, Brooke Badgett, Rebecca Langer, Allison Castel, Casey O'Hanlon, Caroline Cutrone, Lisa Yanosik, Kaitlyn Olsen, Samantha Sweeney, Dorothy Niemira, Coach Phil Opinante and assistant coach Mike Weiner has much to be proud of....the Nassau County title!
