This past weekend, the Xtreme played their scheduled league match on Saturday and had a make up game on Sunday. The weekend was a huge success as the Xtreme won both their matches. On Saturday the team traveled to the "Field of Dreams" to play the East Meadow Hurricanes. The Xtreme handed the Hurricanes their first loss of the season. On Sunday, the Xtreme headed to Lynbrook and dominated the Lady Dragons for 60 minutes.

Saturday's match had the Xtreme returning to East Meadow where they shocked the Hurricanes on penalty kicks in a victorious State Cup match in September. The Xtreme knew exactly what to expect, lots of shots on goal from any point on the field. Keeper Sam Derby and her defense were prepared. The Xtreme constantly applied pressure on the ball, not allowing East Meadow players to set up many quality shots on goal. Sam made a few great saves, frustrating the Hurricanes throughout the first half. Deanna DiPierro, Jenna Codignotto, Alicia Mueller and Sam Miesemer worked endlessly in denying the Hurricanes many scoring attempts. In the midfield, Cara Adams, Katie Roscoe and Colette Seel won the majority of battles for possession against a talented East Meadow team. At the twenty-minute mark, Katie won a ball in the circle and played the ball out to Colette. Colette carried down the side and at the top of the 18- yard box sent a cross into the area. Lauren Miesemer got to the ball first and in a crowd played the ball back to Katie. Katie then blasted the ball into the goal and put her team up 1-0. The play for the next 10 minutes was end to end. Joanna Sokolovic used her speed to create some further scoring opportunities for the Xtreme.

With a 1-0 lead, the Xtreme knew defense was the key in the second half. Shannon Tierney jumped in the goal. As the match progressed, the Hurricanes pushed up and applied lost of pressure on the Xtreme. Shannon turned away one scoring chance after another. In the final minutes, Shannon faced two point blank shots and saved both drives. Sam D. was now helping the back line. Sam used her speed to get the ball out of the middle and safely outside. Alison Holfester, Kelsey Whitney and Isabel McKeown were in at midfield. This unit constantly won 50/50 battles and took balls out of the air, not allowing the Hurricanes to go on the offensive. It was a thrilling match to the final second. But the Xtreme prevailed with a 1-0 victory.

The Xtreme were on the road again on Sunday, their opponent, the Lynbrook/East Rockaway Lady Dragons. It was a very brisk, but sunny morning. The cool weather couldn't slow the Xtreme as they dominated the Lady Dragons for a 4-0 victory. Less than 6 minutes in, Deanna DiPierro sent a corner kick to the far post. Alison Holfester was positioned perfectly to receive the ball, pivot, and bury the ball into the corner of the goal to put her ream up 1-0. Twelve minutes later, Joanna Sokolovic shot a very well struck ball from the right side of the penalty area that beat the keeper on the near post for a goal. In the second half, Cara Adams got possession at the top of the 18 yard box and drilled a shot into the left corner of the goal. Minutes later, Joanna got her second goal when she beat everyone down the field for the final goal. Sam Derby manned the goal for the match. Sam was tested from time to time, but showed great skill and leadership to post the shut out.

The Xtreme look to continue their strong finish as they play the Levittown Panthers this Saturday at Soccer Field Park to conclude the season.
