St. Paul's Process Crawling Along

Negotiations with AvalonBay Communities, Inc. have gone slower than expected, announced Deputy Mayor John Mauk at the Nov. 8th meeting of the Garden City Board of Trustees. AvalonBay is the firm designated by the Garden City Board of Trustees to be the exclusive developer of the St. Paul's property.

Mauk, who serves as chairman of the Mayor's Committee on St. Paul's, said that representatives from AvalonBay are expected to contact community groups in the coming weeks. Both sides are working to develop a memorandum of understanding, which will not be legally binding, but will detail expectations on both sides. Mauk acknowledged that his committee has concerns with some aspects of AvalonBay's proposal.

The committee is currently working on a Village Facts explaining what has happened since the last newsletter was mailed to residents in May, 2006.
