Chamber Gears Up For Village Tree Lighting Once again, the Garden City Chamber of Commerce is setting plans for the 53rd annual Village Tree Lighting Ceremony to take place on Sunday, December 2, 3:30 p.m. at the Village Gazebo. The event is coordinated by the Chamber and for the 13th year, will be sponsored by Astoria Federal Savings. Contributing to the success of the event is the Garden City Fire Department, police and Recreation Department. Additionally, for the30th year, the renowned Village Music Makers big band, directed by Tom Wagner, will ring in the sounds of the season, and as is tradition, holiday choral music will be performed by the award-winning Garden City High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble directed by Robert Ludwig. A multi-entertainer will interact with the youngsters who will receive "goodies" from Astoria Federal Savings. The Garden Citdy Volunteer Fire Department will provide hot chocolate donated by the Manor Deli. Bagleman, Dunkin' Donuts, Kings Supermarket and Riesterer's Bake Shop will graciously provide holiday cookies. To the delight of the kids, the finale will be the arrival of Santa Claus on the Garden City Fire Department's giant pumper truck decorated as Sant's sleigh. Many hands are at work to make this a most happy and meaningful event. For more information, please call the Chamber at (516) 746-7724, or visit the Chamber website: www.GardenCityChamber.org.
