Boy Scout Troop 56 Goes Camping

Stefan Gerek and Richard Masters take in the scenery
The Scouts of Troop 56, sponsored by the Garden City Community Church, hiked at Harriman State Park in late October while carrying their own gear. During the hike the scouts saw various animals including hawks, turkeys and deer as well as evidence of other animals. After a long day in the woods, they cooked dinner and breakfast over an open fire and slept overnight in tents. The next day they came across an ancient burial ground, explored caves and found an abandoned mine where hundreds of bats were sleeping. A game of father versus son football capped of a great weekend.
