STAR Program Deadline Extended

Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Garden City) announced the deadline to apply for the Middle Class STAR rebate program has officially been extended from November 30, 2007 to December 31, 2007 .

Many homeowners received their Middle Class STAR rebate application letter late because of a clerical error. While it appears everyone due to receive the rebate has or will have the application letter soon, the unanticipated delay could lead many homeowners to miss the deadline to apply. This extension will give needed time to any homeowner who, for any reason, has yet to apply.

Senator Hannon said, "I hope this extension gives residents more time to apply. Anyone with questions should feel free to contact my office at 516-739-1700."

The rebate check is in addition to the property tax relief one already receives through the STAR program that is shown on their school tax bill.
