With a 5-0 victory over New Hyde Park in the Nassau Class B semifinals on November 1st and a 6-2 victory over Manhasset in the county finals held at Hofstra University on Monday, November 5th, Garden City's girls varsity field hockey team is headed to the Long Island Championship game against Shoreham-Wading River.

Garden City is no stranger to championship games having won 13 consecutive county titles. They are the defending LI champ as well as the Class B State Champions. Add a 60 game winning streak to their credit and you've got a team that seems unstoppable.

Against New Hyde Park the Trojans defense added another shutout to their record behind the goalkeeping of Elizabeth Gurskis and Kaitlyn Williams. Caroline McTiernan led GC's scoring with 2 goals, followed by goals from Eleni Andromidas, Erin Brennan and Mariah Pewarski.

Although the Trojans had defeated Manhasset 7-0 earlier in the season, the team was prepared for a tough county final. Manhasset played hard but couldn't match Garden City's offense as goals by Eleni Andromidas (2), Erin Brennan

Amanda Keller, Caroline McTiernan and Lauren Terracciano gave the Trojans more than they needed in the 6-2 win.

On Sunday, November 11th, the team will travel to Stonybrook for a 2pm match against Shoreham-Wading River for the Long Island Championship. If they succeed there, they will head to Syracuse to defend their state title.
