GC Rams Girls' Lacrosse 2008 Season You may have seen it while driving by the Middle School field and wondered if the game had any rules. To the novice spectator, lacrosse can resemble organize confusion. However, there is rhyme and reason to it, which is obvious in the great success of our High School Girls' Programs. The Rams Girls' Lacrosse program is the starting point to that success. In fact last year we had over 450 girls registered, making us the largest girls' lacrosse program in the metro area. Rams Girls' Lacrosse is open to all girls in grades 3 to 8 who resided in the Village of Garden City or go to school within the village. As a reminder, girls in grades 7 and 8 may play for both the Rams program and the Middle School team. Program Changes for 2008 With the successful introduction of modified checking (Level "A" lacrosse) to the 6th grade program, and the use of the regulation lacrosse ball for grade 4, the Executive Board of Nassau County PAL has approved expanding modified checking to grade 5th and the regulation ball to grade 3 for the 2008 season. In addition, under discussion with the NCPAL Executive Board is moving from four 12-minute quarters to two 25-minute halves. More on this as it develops. Indoor Program Our indoor program and training sessions request is currently pending approval from the Village Recreation Department. Due to the increase participation, we have requested to start in December and run to March 2008. As soon as we receive approval from the vil-lage, the schedule will be announced. Team Registration Please note that the GC Rams Girls' Lacrosse program is a highly competitive travel lacrosse program, which requires both player and parent commitment. Lacrosse is a spring sport and all participants are asked to make lacrosse their primary team sport for the season. Team registration will run from October 20th and will end on December 23, 2007. Applications are available at Olympic Den, 676 Dogwood Avenue in Franklin Square (516.486.0975). The registration fee is $110.00 per player and includes uniform, mouth guard, insurance, game, league fees and USL membership. There is a $30 late registration fee for any player registering after December 10, 2007. Please make note of the changes in our registration dates. Applications are also available at the Village Rec-reation Department or on line at our website: www.gcramsgirlslax.com.
