The Maroon 7s faced another tough test sunday playing Uniondale which had only one loss. The game was played at Hofstra stadium which was a huge treat for the boys. The day started rough for the 7s as they went out in 3 plays on their first possession. On Uniondale's first play from scrimmage their star running back took the handoff and broke through the Thunder defense for a 40 yard score. Down 7-0 it looked bleak for the Thunder 7s but QB's Cole Dutton and Andrew DeSantis led their squad on a textbook drive. Gaining 4 to 5 yards a play the Thunder marched against the Uniondale defense picking up first downs by Mark Michon, Michael Liberopolous and Matt Desimplicis. With a 2nd and goal from the 4, Andrew DeSan-tis went off tackle behind Tommy Siler, Aidan Griffin and James Buckley and dove into the end zone for the score. Kieran Paskewitz plowed in for the extra point and the score was tied at 7-7. The Thunder defense squashed the Uniondale offense on the next series causing 3 straight fumbles as they stripped the runners. Uniondale was forced to punt and the Thunder were on the move again. The Thunder moved the ball to the 20 but the half ended tied at 7-7. Al-though the 2nd half saw Uniondale take and hold the lead, the Thunder stood proud knowing they played a great game against one of the leagues best. It was a great season for the Maroon's who closed the season out with a tail gate party celebration.
