GC Titans vs. Floral Park Warriors

Connor Lehan stellar at midfield
On November 3rd, the Titans hosted the Floral Park Warriors at St. Paul's. It was a frigid afternoon made worse by very strong winds blowing from the north. The Titans came out strong and ready to play after being rained out in Massapequa last weekend.

The match started out fairly even with gives and takes by both sides. Titan forwards Owen Prendergast, Mark Luglio, Bobby McLoughlin and Michael Franco kept the pressure on the Warriors' defense. The Titans missed a few early opportunities to score, but halfway through the first period Titans keeper Joe Leighton punted the ball far down field to Michael Franco, who blasted it in past the Warriors' keeper for the game's first goal. Titan defenders Jack Riceman, John Schlichte, Conor Lehan, and Jack Roscoe did a good job protecting their goal and blunting Floral Park's attempts to gain an advantage. The first half ended with the Titans ahead 1-0.

Early in the second half, the Warriors answered with a goal of their own, on a ball that got past the Titan defenders. But the Titans fought back hard, and soon thereafter Michael Franco took a shot that was deflected by the Warriors' keeper right in front of Conor Lehan, who powered the ball past the keeper for a goal. It was not long until the Titans answered again, this time on a beautiful pass by Bobby McLoughlin to Conor Lehan, who cranked a shot that passed right between the legs of the keeper for another goal. The Warriors made several attempts to come back, but solid defense and good goal keeping by John Schlichte kept the Warriors scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Titans won, 3-1, and look forward to another good game next weekend. Way to go, team!
