Thunder Maroon 7s vs Long Beach

QB Cole Dutton on the move as #27 Joey Ostapow leads the way.
The Maroon 7s faced another tough test this week against the improving Long Beach Bulldogs. With 12 different Thunder running backs carrying the ball this day the Thunder showed their versatility. The Thunder opening drive was textbook as Rb's Teddy Dolan, Matt Desimplicis and Mark Michon gained huge chunks of turf with each carry. A big 20 yard run by Cole Dutton had the ball inside the 10. Up front the line of Will Honan, James Buckley, Michael liberopolous, Kyle Steinbach, Eli Pagonis, Aidan Griffin, Will Honan, Joey Perrini and Jack Dignam made life for the Thunder runners easy by opening up huge holes all day. Although a fumble stopped the drive at the 5, the Thunder got the ball back and once again marched easily through the LBI defense. Big gains by Andrew DeSantis and Kieran Paskewitz moved the ball to the 20 and from there James Buckley strode in behind some great blocking. On the next play Michael Liberopolous bulled in for the extra point. The defense led by George Cognard, Liam Widell, Joey Ostapow, Sean + Patrick Leggett, Quinn Heslin held LBI each time and the Thunder 7s notched their first shutout of the season. A total team effort was needed by all at the Maroon 7s won for the 3rd time this season. The 7s close their season out at Hofstra stadium this saturday vs Uniondale.
