College Notes

Alexandra Lauren Ortego , a Dartmouth College student in the class of 2009 from Garden City (11530), studied Spanish in Madrid during the Fall 2007 term as part of the college's Foreign Study Program.

Ortego is the daughter of Joseph J. Ortego and Shirley B. Ortego.

Dartmouth's off-campus programs are designed to expand the college's curriculum into new areas of academic and cultural understanding. Through these programs, students are given the chance to study a particular topic in depth. Dartmouth's off-campus offerings include 44 programs in 17 countries and the United States. Approximately 65 percent of Dartmouth undergraduates take advantage of the college's foreign study opportunities.

Foreign study programs are particularly appropriate to the Dartmouth Plan, a distinctive four-term, year-round system academic calendar which provides unprecedented flexibility in individual study patterns.
