Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem On October 25, police arrested a 48-year-old Hempstead woman and a 21-year-old Hempstead woman for allegedly taking $592 in merchandise, mostly intimates, belts, shoes, a dress and sweater at Sears, Franklin Avenue... A 57-year-old Oceanside woman was arrested at Lord and Taylor on October 24 for allegedly taking a $155 Brahmin wallet... On the same day, police conducted a truck stop at Clinton Rd. with 12 trucks inspected, 62 tickets issued, and 7 trucks taken out of service. DOT at scene...On October 25, police went to the scene of a 3-car accident at Franklin Ave./Fifteenth Street and arrested one of the drivers, a 36-year-old Hempstead man, for alleged DWI (.27%), unlicensed operation, and for aggravated DWI. A passenger is his car had chest injuries and was taken to the hospital, while the other two drivers also had injuries, one of whom also went to Winthrop Hospital... On October 26, PO Weir and PO Oswald went to the scene of a car accident at Clinton Rd./ Chestnut Street at 2 AM.After an investigation, they found the location of a GC resident, the motorist who had left the scene and he was arrested for aggravated DWI, DWI (.19%), leaving the scene of a car accident, and for no insurance... Someone took a $700 Garmin GPS from a Mercedes Benz parked during the day on October 26... Det. Rothermel and Det. Madden along with Sears security arrested a 34-year-old Huntington Station man and a 31-year-old Rosedale man for allegedly forging a signature and accessing a victim's account at the store on October 29. It seems the two thieves allegedly purchased over $1,000 in merchandise, and they were both arrested on charges of grand larceny, larceny of a credit card, and for identity theft 2nd degree, all E felonies... Fire Responses: the electric was shut off at a Roxbury Rd. house on October 24 after shorted electric equipment was found... Dry ice was mistaken as smoke at a dumpster on Franklin Avenue on October 26... Natural ventilation was used to clear carbon monoxide at a Willow Street residence on October 26... LIPA was notified that a large tree had fallen and caused an outage at an Adams St. house on October 27... A computer motor burned up and caused alarm at a Hathaway residence on October 28. There was no fire...Two water pumps were used to remove water at a Bayberry Avenue house on October 28...FD used mechanical ventilation to clear smoke caused by a smoldering log in a fireplace at a residence on October 30...Firemen extinguished a fire on hedges between Transverse Rd./Russell Rd. on October 30...FD drained a water leak at Franklin Ct. on the same day...
