Knights Win "Star Council" Award

Past Grand Knight Bob Guida shared the good news with newly-elected Council Grand Knight Basil Bliss
There were plenty of smiles to go around at "Msgr. John's Knights" meeting at St. Anne's School recently when Nassau County K of C 17th District Deputy Rich Laws presented Past Grand Knight Bob Guida the national "Star Council" Award for the 2006-7 fraternal year during which Guida (now a Trustee) had served as Grand Knight.

The District Deputy noted that the Star Council Award is the highest honor a local council can receive from Supreme Council. It is awarded for overall excellence in programming, membership and insurance growth. He presented the award on behalf of State Deputy Edward Castelazzi and Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson.

The Counci has won the coveted honor three times in its 11-year history.

Later Guida shared the good news with newly-elected Council Grand Knight Basil Bliss. The latter had been installed recently into his new office with Council fellow officers including Rev. Rudy Pesongco, Chaplain; Don DePol, Deputy Grand Knight; John Lappas, Chancellor; Robert J. McAuiffe, Re-corder; Mike Boldizar, Financial Secretary; Brendan J. Galligan, Treasurer and James Dougherty, Lecturer.

Also, Brian E. McKeever, Advocate; Doug Gaeta, Warden; John D. Fetherston, Mike Lynch, Robert E. Murphy, Guards; and, Robert Guida, Robert W. McGowan and James A. Cioffi, Trustees.

"Msgr. John's Knights" are members of the Msgr. John C. Seidenschwang Council, Knights of Columbus founded at St. Anne's in July, 1996.
