Remembering The Troops Members of St. Anne's Middle Years Group is planning an afternoon for creating "Lap Blankets for Our Troops".. The Middle Years Group at St. Anne's invites you to meet at 1 p.m. in the cafeteria of the school building, on Sunday, November 11- Veteran's Day. At that time members will be on hand to organize the creation of Lap Blankets for the Wounded Warriors. Instructions to knit, crochet and stitch blankets will be explained (also help to get you started). Materials for the blankets will be available, you do not need to sew, we will have projects for you. Refreshments will be served. Please call Peg 742-2274, Patty 740-0391 or Nancy 437-9518 in order to plan for sufficient materials. Also planned for the same weekend, November 10 and 11 th, the Middle Years Group will be collecting at the doors of the St. Anne's Church items for the Wounded Warriors Program. Items requested include phone cards, letters and cards to service men and women, new clothing sizes L and XL: white T-shirts, boxer shorts, white socks (especially short ankle socks), athletic shorts, basketball shorts, athletic sleeveless shirts, break-away pants, toiletries for male and female soldiers, plain sweat shirts and pants, work out gloves (especially Neoprene, best for use with wheel chairs) and monetary donations (Stewart Manor, Vol, Fire Dept c/o Operation Wounded Warrior.) This is a county-wide effort by our local firemen to collect items needed by our wounded troops. The firemen will travel to visit with the wounded soldiers in Camp Lejeune, Fort Bragg, Bethesda Naval Hospital and Walter Reed Army Hospital. Many of our local area firefighters will be bringing these gifts to comfort and cheer our wounded troops. Along with our prayers for these Wounded Warriors, the firemen will hand deliver some of our Lap Blankets.
