The Nassau County Museum of Art is currently hosting a major retrospective on Latin American Art. Encompassing master works of art from the early 20th century to the present, this show features some of the world's most famous Latin artists. The highlight of the show is a very rare Frida Kahlo self-portrait from 1953 which is being exhibited for the first time in New York. The painting was lent from a show that was recently held in Mexico.
Other famous artists in the exhibition are Fernando Botero and the Surrealist masters Roberto Matta and Wilfredo Lam. The museum show explores the depth, richness and color of the many varied themes that give Latin American Art its vitality and originality. The show also features many important works which allow the viewer to experience the deep inspirations and traditions of this rich and vibrant culture.
The exhibition will continue until Sunday, November 4th. Garden City residents can get more information on the show by calling the museum at 484-9338.
