Thunder 10's Borges Beat Rival Floral Park

It was a beautiful fall day in mid October as the Thunder prepared for the game against rival Floral Park. The Floral Park Titans won the coin toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff. Unfortunately for the Thunder, after a good kickoff and coverage, the first play from scrimmage for the Titans resulted in a 65 yard run for a touchdown. After getting over the shock, the Thunder offense really answered the call by controlling the ball for the rest of the 1st quarter until scoring early in the 2nd quarter on a Justin Samardich run making the score 7 - 6 in favor of the Titans. The Thunder offensive line really set the tone on this drive by pushing the Titan defense all over the field, our offensive line is led by Brian Colamussi, Daniel Krumm, Chris Moscatiello, Matt Esposito, Brian Goulard, Jack Tobin, Kevin Sprotte, Michael Crapotta, Quinn McDonagh and Patrick Slovensky. These boys made great holes for our running backs to run through and they took full advantage of it, our backs were Justin Samardich, Thomas Wright, Liam Burns, Brian Colamussi and Matt Borges. The first half ended with the Titans leading the Thunder by a score of 7 - 6 but our boys were not intimidated being behind at half time. We knew we were going to be receiving the ball at the start of the 3rd quarter and our offense would continue to push the Titans defense backwards. We started with a strong bunch of plays gaining 3 - 5 yards per carry until Brian Colamussi broke a 45 yard run to give the Thunder a hard earned lead in a very tight game. We converted the point a made the score 13 - 7 in favor of the Thunder. It was now time for our great defense to take control of the game and lock down a victory for the Thunder. In the 3rd and 4th quarter, the Thunder "D" made several huge 4th down stops of the Titan offense which allowed our offense to kneel down for the final three plays of the game for the victory. Our defense was led by Luke Armstrong, Matthew Borges, Liam Byrnes, Colin Castro, Brian Colamussi, Timmy Collins, Jack Concannon, Michael Crapotta, Lucas D'Aversa, Brian Goulard, Ryan McCartney, Chris Repetti, Justin Samardich, Patrick Slovensky, Kevin Sprotte, Ben Walsh and Thomas Wright. We now have to prepare the boys for our last regular season game against Hempstead. We will be playing the Hempstead Tiger Cubs on Sunday October 28 at Lincoln Park in Hempstead at 2 PM.

GO THUNDER!!!!!!!
