Thunder 9's White On A Winning Streak

Over the past two weeks, the Knowles Thunder 9's White have played terrific football.

Under the Friday night lights, and with a cold and blustery wind chill resembling that of the frozen tundra of Green Bay, Thunder repeated their performance of their first game of the season against the Bellmore Braves with a win of 20-7. The first play of the game, John Wotczak's number was called, he found a hole and turned it upfield for a touchdown, John later added touchdown number two just before the half to make the score 13-0 at half-time. After the half, Bellmore came out hot, banging away with determined runs up the middle, eventually getting it into end zone to get within 7 points of the Thunder. With Bellmore's offense with the ball again, the feared "Thunder D" shook off the cold and with some excellent tackling by Chris Halka, Dan DeSimpliciis, Joseph King, James Ostrowski and Ian Guarino got to the business of stopping the Braves. With Bellmore running a student body right sweep and bodies flying, Jack Capetola got himself into the mix, emerged from the pack with the ball, and sprinted to the end zone for the final score of the game.

Capetola (36), Knowles (29), McCarthy (56), Philippas (62), Chmil (10), Halka, (74) Sutherland (79), Wotczak (23), McDougal (46) and Lucchesi (33) - ready to play.
This past week, Thunder took on the Franklin Square Warriors and played an outstanding game that resulted in a 21-0 win. As has become customary, Thunder started the game strong and the offense scored on their first and second positions. Once again, the Thunder D was on fire, with excellent playing by Conor Lehan, Mike De Santi, Philip Puccio, Nick Jones and Dominick Avitabile. The offense continued to turn back both running plays and passing plays, with three interceptions by Kevin McDougal, Matt Chmil and Jack Capetola. Oline mates Maxwell Sutherland and Joe Philippas ensured the path was clear for some excellent offensive plays. Matty Chmil and then Jamie Atkinson led the offense at quarterback while Brendan Dolan provided leadership to the line at center. Sam Lucchesi, Peter McCarthy and Sean Knowles all made some great moves and excellent runs with the ball, while also contributing on defense.
