A Word From The Publisher

October 22nd through October 26th has been declared School Board Recognition Week in New York State, so we'd like to take a moment to thank the members of the Board of Education, both past and present, who have served the school children of Garden City.

While school board members in any town can be a large amount of work, Garden City parents in particular have very high expectations of the schools, and undoubtedly require even more from the Board. Board members are expected to be available to the public virtually all the time, in spite of the fact that they have their own lives, families and jobs to tend to as well.

Although the job of school board member can often be a full-time one, board members are unpaid volunteers, who only get the thanks of the community as their remuneration. So if you happen to encounter any of the members of the board this weekend, take a minute to say thanks.

The current members of the Board of Education are: Ken Monaghan, Colleen Foley, Laurence Quinn, Laua Brown and Barbara Trapasso
