Senior citizen flu shot program

The Inc. Village of Garden City, in cooperation with Winthrop University Hospital, the Nassau County Dept. of Senior Citizen Affairs, Nassau County Medical Center, and Molloy College, will conduct a flu immunization program for senior residents of the Village of Garden City on Tuesday, November 20 th. This is a free, no out of pocket expense, program

This program will be held in the Senior Recreation Center on Golf Club Lane (behind Lord and Taylor's parking lot) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be no cost to participate, however, we ask that you bring in any insurance or medicare information and your social security number with you as you need to provide that information on the forms.

Preregistration is necessary for participation. Preregistration will begin by phone on Tuesday, October 30 th at 9 a.m. Residents of the Village of Garden City, aged 60 or older, are invited to participate. Anyone who is interested in getting a flu shot must call the Recreation Office at 465-4075 to make an appointment.

preschool arts and crafts begins

The Recreation Department will begin its first session of Preschool Arts and Crafts the week of October 16 th. This six week program is held at St. Paul's Cluett Hall and is open to children ages 3 1/2 to 5 years old who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City.

Children interested in this program may register for either Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. or Thursday at 12:30 p.m. The cost of each 45 minute, six week session is $30.

The child registering MUST be 3 1/2 by October 16 th in order to register for a session. To register, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall.

aerobic classes in cluett hall

The Recreation Dept.'s aerobic classes are just the thing to get your heart pumping and your body moving. Classes are taught by experienced aerobic instructors who try to tailor their program to the level of the participants.

Classes are offered at Cluett Hall in St. Paul's according to the following schedule:

Mondayat 8 a.m.

Wednesday at 8 a.m.

Thursdayat 8 a.m.

Thursdayat 7 p.m.

Sunday at 9 a.m.

Classes last approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes. There is no preregistration for these classes. It costs $4 per class if you "pay as you go" or you can buy a 20 class pass for $60. This pass can be purchased in the Recreation Office at Village Hall or the Cluett Hall office. For further information, please call Cluett Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 742-4905.

The Recreation Adult Programs in the Field House begin on Tuesday, October 9 th, according to the following schedule:

Mondays Mens' Open Basketball7:30-10 p.m.

Mens' Over 40 Basketball7:30-10 p.m.

WednesdaysMens' Open Basketball7:30-10 p.m.

These programs are open to residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City who have graduated high school. All programs listed are free of charge and strictly "pick up". A picture ID is required to sign in to any program. For further information, please contact the Recreation Office at 465-4075.

adult dance classes begin

Our fall session of Adult Dance classes, taught by Felicia Lovaglio, will begin the week of October 1st. This program is open to adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The following classes are offered:

Tuesdays beginning October 2 nd at 9:30 a.m. Stretch and Tone

Tuesdays beginning October 16th at 8 p.m. Jazz

Tuesdays beginning October 16th at 7 p.m. Ballet

Thursdays beginning October 4 th at 9:30 a.m. Stretch and Tone

To register for these programs, please fill out the registration form and mail it with payment to the Garden City Recreation Dept. at 351 Stewart Avenue. It can also be dropped off at the Recreation Office in Village Hall. For further information, please call the Recreation Office at 465-4075. The cost of each 15 week session is $120.00.
