Thunder 9 Maroon Defeats Mineola

Brian McKenna, Patrick Hosford, and Bobby McLoughlin on Defense.
Thunder 9 Maroon defeated Mineola last Sunday, Oct. 14th by a score of 18-6. It was an 18-0 Thunder shut-out until late in the 4th quarter, when Mineola strung a few good runs together and scored before the whistle.

Tricky plays, smoothe hand-offs, great blocking, slippery running, and even a few pass attempts were the order of the day for the Thunder Offense. The Big Thunder "D" was tougher than tough as they prevented Mineola gain throughout the game, allowing only a handful of Mineola 1st downs and 1 touchdown.

Some Highlights:

- It was "dejavous all over again" as Brian Haeffner completed 2 identical 40-yard TD runs in the first half, to give Thunder 12 points.

- Scott Kiley slipped his way through several tackles on a 30-yard run, scoring his 1st TD of the season and Thunder's 3rd in the game.

- Nice back to back 1st down runs by Max Webster and Jonston MacIntyre to set up Haeffner's 2nd TD run.

Matt Quinn and Thomas Cassiano block beautifully for Jonston MacIntyre.
- Tackles behind the line of scrimmage by Ryan Galioto, Christian Coppola, Andrew Wood.

- Huge 50-yard run by Kyle Thornton.

- Stephen Moran at Safety made a huge touchdown-saving tackle as the last Thunder defenseman on a big Mineola run.
