It was a blustery Friday night in early October for our only Friday night lights game of the year and our boys really showed up under the lights! The game started with the Thunder on Defense and we came out attacking the offense of Bellmore which led to a very short offensive series for the Braves. This was a night that both offense and defense would put their best foot forward.
After a rough start for our offense, we put it all together with great blocking by our offensive line (Quinn McDonagh, Brian Colamussi, Jack Tobin, Matt Esposito, Michael Crapotta, Kevin Sprotte, Brian Goulard, Chris Mosciatello, Daniel Krumm, Liam Byrnes and Justin Samardich). We jumped out to a 13 - 0 lead by the middle of the 2nd quarter on two great touchdown runs, one by Thomas Wright and another by James Sullivan. It was right before halftime when our great defense gave the ball back to the offense on about our 35 yard line, we knew we needed to try and get one more quick score if we could. A reverse was called and executed perfectly, completely fooling the boys from Bellmore. Matt Borges tossed the ball to Thomas Wright who then handed the ball to James Sullivan who followed a very strong lead block by Matt Borges that allowed James' great speed to take the ball all the way for a touchdown making the score 19 - 0 at halftime.

We scored one more touchdown on offense on our first possession of the 2nd half making the score 25 - 0. It was now up to our defense (Justin Samardich, Jack Concannon, Brian Colamussi, Luke Armstrong, Timmy Collins, Ben Walsh, Chris Repetti, Lucas D'Aversa, Ryan Mc Cartney, Matt Borges, James Sullivan, Liam Byrnes, Colin Castro, Thomas Wright and Patrick Slovensky) to hold on and boy did they ever. Thomas Wright led the defense with 2 interceptions and Justin Samardich had a great sack. The shutout from the Thunder defense was exactly what was needed to set the tone for the game! The boys really played well on both sides of the ball and then enjoyed the post game festivities thanks to all of their parents coordinated by Barbara Walsh and Mary Kate Repetti.
