Fireballs Tame Jaguars

Christina Cesarini moves through the midfield.
The Fireballs took a ride to the Soccer Park last Sunday to take on the Wantagh Seaford Jaguars and the girls continued their strong play in the division with a 4-0 victory. The Fireballs are off to a great start with four straight wins; having scored 11 goals and only giving up 3. GC's strength is their ability to move the ball with terrific teamwork and ball skills while using the entire field. In the game this past weekend, GC had the Jaguars on their heels right from the start and never let up. A good sign of the control they had in the first half was the 9 corner kicks that they took. The goals were scored by four different players - Christina Cesarini, Courtney Chmil, Kim Verderber and Victoria Aldrich, on a variety of shots that finished off some great passing. The defense held tight on the few counterattacks that the Jaguars tried to mount, earning another shutout for keeper Joanna Matuza. The Fireballs take on the Mineola Mongoose on Sunday at St. Paul's at 10:00 - come out and see a team that enjoys playing soccer together! Keep up the good work girls and continued good luck with your high school teams.
