Storytime For Special Needs Children

There are still openings for the special needs story time! Please contact the children's room for additional information if interested. Dates are October 19, November 9, November 30, December 7 and December 14.

Children Read To Bide-A-Wee Dogs

A very special children's program is planned for this fall for Grades 1-5! On November 3rd, the Bide-A-Wee Organization will visit the library and bring four special dogs. These dogs love to have stories read to them.

The program will begin at 2:00 PM with allotted time slots. Children must be present 15 minutes before their starting time. Space is limited to 20 children with a short waiting list of 5 names. If you need to cancel, please call the Children's Room so another child may participate.

The children will select a book with the help of the librarians and read the story to the dogs. Bide-A-Wee has asked that all children who sign up contribute from a wish list which will be available on the day of registration. Donations can come in the form of food, toys, or blankets, and any patron is welcome to contribute. Registration for this very special event begins October 27 at 9AM.

Live Homework Help

The library now subscribes to an after school Live Homework Help center, called "tutor.com", where children in grades 4th - 12th grades can connect to a "live" tutor in the online classroom for expert help in Math, Science, Social Studies and English. This service is available seven days a week from 3:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. If you are visiting the library, simply click the link on the library website, enter the grade level and the subject area and you are connected to an expert. If you are working at home, access the library website at www.gardencitypl.org, enter your library card number when prompted and follow the easy directions.
