Shopping Benefit Helps Local Charity

The Cooley's Anemia Foundation, Long Island Chapter will participate in Bloomingdale's annual multi-charity event, "The Shopping Benefit," on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at all three Bloomingdale's Long Island locations. The event will be held from 10AM - 10PM with over 50 local charities participating. Bloomingdale's hopes to help raise over $100,000 in support of the community-based efforts of our participating charities.

"The Shopping Benefit" will feature storewide entertainment, discounts and fashion events. With your purchase of a $10 ticket, you are entitled to take15% off almost every purchase, even sale-priced items or take 20% off when you spend $300 or more on your Bloomingdale's card that day. Some exclusions apply, see ticket for details. 100% of the ticket price will benefit participating charities. When you bring in the ticket to the store on the day of the event, Bloomingdale's will donate an additional $5 to the charity stamped on the back of the ticket.

Cooley's Anemia is a fatal, genetic blood disorder affecting thousands of children. Imagine if you had to receive a blood transfusion every two or three weeks just to live? Imagine if the very transfusion that was keeping you alive could overload all of your organs with excess iron and then cause cardiac failure? That is the daily reality facing people with Cooley's Anemia. Your help gives these children the gift of life and hope. The Foundation has research projects that are very promising. They need the funds to continue the research. In the last 25 years, the funds raised for research have added 10 to 15 years onto the lives of children born with Cooley's Anemia.
