More than 40 girls-graduates of the GCHS cheer clinic held this past spring-recently got a chance to see what it's like to be a high school cheerleader. As part of the cheer clinic sponsored by the GCHS Cheerleading program, the girls were invited to cheer with the Varsity cheerleaders at the Varsity football game against South Side on October 6. The girls reviewed cheers and warmed up first with the Junior Varsity cheerleaders, and then joined the Varsity cheerleaders on the sidelines to perform two cheers and a toe-touch jump during the first quarter.

"These girls did such an outstanding job of cheering for the crowd and the team," said Varsity Coach Sara Tucci. "Their enthusiasm definitely got the game off to a great start, and we all loved having them cheer with us." Coach Tucci says there will be another cheer clinic next year for girls interested in cheerleading as a sport; flyers and more information will be available in Spring 2008.

Want to be a cheerleader? Having a big voice and a big smile helps.
