Sunday, October 7, 2007 - Stewart Field - The GC Thunder 10s matched up against a very talented Franklin Square Warrior team this past Sunday. The game day captains, Devon McGuinness, Evan Nagel and Conor Muldoon won the toss for the Thunder and elected to receive the ball. The Thunder mounted an impressive 12 play, 68 yard drive led by the offensive line of Nick Gray, Thomas Lane, Justin Holloway, Alex Ferzola, Joe Williams, Devon McGuinness and Chris Larkin to put the Thunder up by 6 in the first quarter. The Thunder defense came out strong led by Connor Nolan, Alex Wood, Drew Vorkas, Matias Yianatos, George Petropoulos, Matt Thomas, Brian Goepfert, Colin DeAngelo, Conor Muldoon, Evan Nagel and Thomas Mascola and forced a turn over which was recovered by the Thunder. Out came the offense but the Franklin Square defense was tough and the Thunder turned it over on downs. Then late in the second quarter the Warriors were able to break one and tie it up, the Thunder defense denied the Warriors the extra point and the score was 6-6 at half time. In the second half it was a defensive battle with each team playing some tough defense, then in the fourth quarter the Warriors broke one for a touch down, it looked like holding on the play but no flag was thrown and the game ended 13-6. It was a tough loss since the momen-tum was squarely with the Thunder in the first half and the loss snaps the Thunder's winning streak as they face Floral Park this Sunday. Wish them luck, go Thunder!
