Get your tickets for the Halloween Fest and Haunted Hike at the Garden City Bird Sanctuary! The Garden City High School's HOPE club and Adelphi's Environmental Action Coalition are busy planning and preparing the community nature preserve for a fun filled event on Saturday October 27th from 4-9PM.

Tickets are a $10 donation to the Garden City Bird Sanctuary can be order by calling Rob Alvey at 326-1720 or via e-mail at gcbirdsanctuary@gmail.com. Kate Murray, Town of Hempstead, has donated the use of a construction light to keep the meadow lit as dusk approaches. Games, a costume contest, crafts, such as pumpkin deco-rating, bird nest identification, and mummy wrapping are planned. Hot dogs, hot chocolate, and Sump-Thing's Happening coffee mugs will be offered for sale. As soon as darkness settles in, the "Haunted Hike" around the storm water basin begins. Tour guides will escort groups of hikers telling tales of strange events and ecological dangers. Watch out for radioactive waste, be careful of invasive vines and spiders, don't drink poisoned water.

It's all in good fun, and a fund raiser for maintenance of the bird sanctuary. The rain date is Sunday Oct. 28th. If you have a home generator or halloween decorations you could contribute, or want to reserve tickets for your family or group, please contact K.C. Alvey, HOPE President, at 326-1720.
