AdoptaPlatoon Soldier "Stockings from Santa"

Last year with the tremendous support and outpouring of generosity we sent over 300 Holiday Stockings to our troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to the generosity of members of the community special thanks goes to Dillmeier Enterprises, Victor Gallo, MD. American Agency Inc., Taylor Warner Realty, GC Alarm Inc., Clancy & Clancy Brokerage, Robert Dougherty, Esq., Louis J. Castellano, Esq., JDL Partners and Estelle Fischer for underwriting the cost of shipping.

This holiday season we hope to double the number of stockings sent. The packages will not end the war but they do boost morale and remind our enlisted men and women that they are not forgotten.

The AdoptaPlatoon Soldier Support Effort founded in 1998 is a nonprofit 501C-3 organization managed nationwide by volunteer mothers to ensure that deployed US Service members in all branches of the military are not forgotten by providing needed mail support and to promote patriotism in our schools and communities.

To provide a better deployment quality of life, lift morale, and assist military families, the AAP creates campaigns that meet the needs of military requests, establish special projects for holidays, and assign individual morale lifting mail support to service members of all branches of the US Military serving our Nation around the world.

You are invited to participate in supporting our troops overseas by donating a holiday stocking or gift bag filled with goodies such as gum, chap stick, sun glasses, baby wipes, hard candy, socks, Dr. Scholl's shoe inserts-gel pads, hand held games, playing cards, word search books, snack foods, beef jerky, small toiletries, magazines, paperback books etc. Please include a note or holiday greeting, your return address is optional.

Stockings can be dropped off anytime prior to November 15th at 37 Kensington Road, Garden City. For more information visit www.adoptaplatoon.org or call Suzanne Fischer at 739-5570.

Please remember to support our Soldiers because every contribution, no matter how small, does make a difference.
