Senior year started with bang for Garden City High School Student Erin Brennan. Last week, Ms. Brennan was named the first Citibank-News 12 Long Island Scholar Athlete of 2007-2008. She also committed to attending the University of Pennsylvania and was crowned Homecoming Queen.

Coach Diane Chapman characterizes Ms. Brennan as an unselfish athlete who leads by example. "Her play on the field is outstanding, and she has great game sense. She is able to analyze a situation and then orchestrate her teammates to do what needs to be done," Ms. Chapman said. "Erin makes her teammates better by her patience and confidence in their skills."

Ms. Brennan has led her lacrosse team to two straight state titles and has been named a High School All-American. She also is a two-time All-State field hockey player with two state championships in that sport. Her unweighted academic average is 94.5%.
