Aidan Griffin takes a breather after making another big play.
The Thunder Maroon 7s matched up vs a big Mineola team this week. In what was a tremendous defensive effort by both squads the Thunder fell a little short. Down 13-0 the Thunder rallied behind a big fourth down run by Kieran Paskewitz as he plowed over Mineola defenders for a much needed first down. Andrew DeSantis then faked a sweep to James Buckley and ran around right end for a 35 yard score. Once again solid blocking by the Offensive line led to the score. Eli Pagonis, Kyle Stein-back, March Michon and Michael Liberopolous anchored the Oline vs a much bigger Mineola squad all day. With only 5 minutes left the Thunder needed to hold and on 4th and one the Thunder D-line did their job. Great stop by the Defense of Aidan Griffin, Cole Dutton, Sean and Patrick Leggett, George Cognard and Will Honan. The offense had one more shot and a 20 yard gain by Matt Desimplicis had the crowd cheering. Unfortunately, a fumble recovery stalled the drive and Mineola managed a last second score.
